Cooling Down

DSC_4995For more than 60 of the last 80 days we’ve sweated through temps between 90° and 110°.  Closed doors & windows & shades. Sleeping with the air conditioning on. Even the dogs don’t want to be outside for more than a few minutes. But today was a delicious 80°. I hope this means that fall is just around the corner.

    1. Air time … I like that, Eliza, and sure I do like the fresh air. Like, from 5am to 9am on hot days, with the breeze coming through the windows. Now, we actually get to go outdoors.
Those blossoms & berries are on the shrub in the front corner of our yard. It’s currently about 12′ tall and is called “Sweet Memory”, aka Golden Dew Drop, Sky Flower, and Duranta Erecta. Read all about it here – http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/60098/
We also have white duranta shrubs planted in the other corner of the front yard. I especially like those because they’re white — there’s something about a spot of white that just naturally draws the eye.

    1. Me too Gigi. This “Sweet Memory” shrub is so pretty, so feminine. It feels vaguely Japan-esque, vaguely Art Nouveau-ish. It’s a favorite of mine.
