“I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don’t notice it. People think pleasing God is all God cares about. But any fool living in the world can see it always trying to please us back.”
― Alice Walker, The Color Purple
This is FANTASTIC!! 🙂

Wow, thank you Eliza. It was a blossom at the nearby Rancho Santa Ana Botanical garden. Don’t know the name, but it did seem to wish to be noticed, didn’t it?

I remember it was a penstemon of some sort. Your attention to its detail puts my quick hip-shots to shame! 😉

Purple. The color of royalty. King of heaven and earth. Thanks for the reminder!

I keep my browser zoomed to 125% so when I opened your post all I saw of the photo were the top two buds with the purple strings flowing out. Scrolling down I was surprised to see a blossom thinking the top part was the picture. The blossom is nice but (I guess because of the initial imprint) I’m favoring the top part wondering were the strings are going. 🙂

How miraculous that you would mention this, David. This morning my partner and I were discussing this picture, and discussing the wonderful intelligence of nature that is evident in those purple tendrils. I too find the top portion to be suggestive & pregnant, while the bottom half is delicious but less intoxicating.
Thank you for your comment!

Such delicious purple. Of course you can’t help but notice it. I love Alice Walker, too!

Alice puts us right into the real world, doesn’t she? No barriers. A great writer.
Thanks Gunta.
