Yellow Jacket

DSC_3112_edited-1On a day trip to Santa Barbara, we pulled off to the tiny town of La Conchita, where a devastating landslide in 2005 buried 4 blocks of homes and killed 10 people. This photo was taken at the overgrowth of one of the buried homes.

    1. The buried homes have been honored by the town people — little glass crosses bearing the names of the lost hang from the chain link fence. It is quite touching. The houses are now covered with morning glory, with home-made signs saying “butterfly garden”.
